PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
The Middle East Regional Editor/Senior Journalist is the senior editorial role in the Middle East.  S/he is responsible for the quality and content for The Brief.  S/he will work with the Executive Managing Editor to set the journalistic standards and provide a vision for, and administer the day-to-day editorial operations of, The Brief.   As such, s/he will need a keen sense of the readership and how, when and why they rely on The Brief to accomplish their business-of-law objectives.  Developing story ideas, writing spot news and lengthy features, editing, and developing contacts and sources are all critical objectives.  S/he will need to collaborate and news plan with Reuters and source original content from and develop and manage relationships with third-party content contributors.  This role also requires management capabilities, as we plan to grow the business across the Middle East.  As such, s/he will be responsible for recruiting and supervising journalists.  
 

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in journalism, Communication Arts or equivalent related experience.
  • Experience as an editor or senior editorial manager (preferably at a magazine).
  • Expert knowledge of editorial operations, magazine traditions, journalistic values, understanding of marketing and capacity to plan and implement competitive business strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in communications and diplomacy.
  • Strong writing, editing and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to write everything from spot news through to longer in-depth news and analysis stories
  • Native-level English writing and speaking fluency.

The operation is an underground operation, mining copper ore at a rate of 1.2 million tonnes per annum. The mining operation is based on extraction of high grade copper ore, using medium sized open stopes.
The Company is about to begin an exciting multi-million dollar shaft extension project which will significantly increase LOM as well as lowering mining costs. We are active in exploration of the existing mine and surrounding tenements in order to expand this business and any other acquisitions that may be acquired in the future.
We are currently recruiting a Mine Planning Engineer to support the mine planning team within the Technical Services Department.
Accountabilities include:
  • Create short to medium term mine development designs
  • Create and/or modify stope designs to suit the updated orebody geometry, planned mining sequence and other planning and production requirements.
  • Liaise regularly with Superintendent, Senior Engineers, Geologists and other Tech Services personnel in order to ensure that development and stope designs are optimised.
  • Act as a mentor to vacation students, technical graduates and technical new starters
  • Promote a safe work culture within the Technical Services team through the demonstration of effective planning, adherence to the Mine Safety Management Plan (including conducting and being involved in JSA and risk assessment) and compliance with NSW mining legislation.
Essential requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Mining Engineering
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of NSW Mining legislation
  • Must have 3 - 5 years previous experience in an underground metalliferous environment
  • Exposure to mine planning software including Surpac and Vent Sim would be advantageous
This role is offered on a 5 days on 2 days off, Monday to Friday roster.
