CSIS Center for Global Health Policy
Global Health Research Fellow
 The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
 The CSIS Global Health Policy Center, launched in 2008, is seeking a full-time staff member with expertise in global public health.  Successful applicants will contribute to the Center’s mission of creating the analytic groundwork for a long-term U.S. strategic vision for global health, building foreign policy leadership in health, and incorporating global health into mainstream foreign policy and national security approaches. Description of Duties:
  • Conduct research and analysis on a cross-section of global public health issues: e.g.
U.S. policies, assistance programs and budgets, particularly with respect to infectious diseases and maternal and child health;
Multilateral initiatives and institutions; 
  • Draft and edit reports, briefings, and other publications.
  • Track the progress of U.S.-supported global health programs in selected countries.
  • Plan Center-hosted public events and other discussions.
  • Conduct independent international research travel, and participate in overseas research delegations.



Qualifications


Experience and Skills:
 A Master’s degree (preferably in public health, international policy, and social/behavioral science)and at least five years research/work experience on global health program and policy issues; some international experience.  Strong interest in health issues as related to security and foreign policy. Ability to write quality research reports, concept papers, and proposals on tight deadlines.  Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work quickly, with minimal supervision, collegially within a small team. Must possess solid communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups, media, governmental entities, and the general public. References and writing samples required.

dTS is a strategic management consulting firm leading initiatives in social and economic development worldwide with a view to promoting equality and accountability. In recent years,   dTS has worked in over 60 countries and provided technical assistance in gender integration, training and capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation services to a wide range of international development agencies, including USAID and the World Bank.

dTS is seeking applications from Senior-Level Gender Specialists. We are looking for candidates with over 10 years of experience in gender mainstreaming. Ideal candidates will have experience in developing programs to address priority gender equality issues and operationalizing frameworks for improving women’s empowerment and gender equality. Candidates with experience in conducting gender assessments, developing and implementing gender integration strategies, and experience in identifying training and technical assistance needs for improving gender integration in the context of international development projects are highly desirable.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

Gender Specialists should meet the following qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in International Development or related field (required)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in international development operations (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming and integration (required)
  • Experience working with USAID and other large international donors (strongly preferred)
  • Experience working  in Critical Priority Countries (CPCs) (Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and Pakistan) (highly desirable, but not required)
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Team oriented individual
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications and databases
