Description


The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Center for International Education seeks a full-time Associate or No-Prefix Administrative Program Specialist  (working title: Program Coordinator) to coordinate a variety of internationally-focused academic program activities related to the Program on Sustainability and Peacebuilding, including a proposed Masters Degree in Sustainable Peacebuilding (MSP).  The Program Coordinator is part of a small team of staff members responsible for student advising and recruiting, co-curricular program management, and curricular coordination of several interdisciplinary academic programs, including the Global Studies and International Studies majors and minors and certificate programs in Asian, French and Francophone, Middle East and North African, Russian and East European, and Peace and Conflict Studies.
Duties include: coordinating curricular, co-curricular, research and scholarly programs associated with the PSP; coordinating program evaluation activities; advising MSP students regarding degree requirements, including overseas fieldwork; coordinating course scheduling and teaching commitments; developing grant proposals and funding strategies; managing grants and grant-related reporting; coordinating publications, marketing, and media related to the PSP.



Qualifications


Qualifications: To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess ALL Minimum Qualifications.
Minimum: A graduate degree; 2 years’ experience working in a professional capacity with undergraduate or graduate students or postsecondary academic programs; postsecondary coursework completed in a field related to sustainable development or peace and conflict management; prior study or research abroad experience; strong writing skills; ability to follow instructions as demonstrated in the applicant’s cover letter (see application instructions below).
Preferred: An undergraduate or graduate degree in an interdisciplinary international field or professional field related to the PSP or proposed MSP curriculum (see: http://www4.uwm.edu/cie/currentstudents/2104/ ); at least 2 years’ professional experience working in  sustainable development, peacebuilding, or environmental management; academic advising experience; academic program development experience; grantwriting experience; proficiency in a language other than English; overseas work experience.
