Deputy Chief of Party/Civil Society Capacity Development Specialist, Middle East
We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for an upcoming multiyear USAID-funded civil society program in the Middle East. The project’s primary focus will be to engage local civil society organizations and other key stakeholders to increase local ownership and capacity for self-directed, sustainable development and effective governance. The position is contingent on ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide programmatic guidance on the design and implementation of civil society strengthening opportunities.
- Provide management support to the Chief of Party, as needed.
- Lead strategic planning and prepare detailed reports and work plans.
- Incorporate gender considerations in all programming.
- Develop methodologies and tools based upon targeted strategies for building capacities of civil society actors (policy, institutional, network/coalition, and individual levels).
- Provide technical input in areas of expertise.
- Support the Chief of Party in all program activities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in management, public administration, international development, Middle Eastern studies, sociology or a related subject is required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in international development
- Experience working the Middle East and/or post-conflict environments
- Demonstrated management, training and team-building experience
- Direct experience working on the implementation of a USAID-funded program
- Demonstrated knowledge of international NGO policies and procedures
- Fluency in English required. Arabic and/or Kurdish languages skills a plus.
